The Creative Gallery is now closed for good, finally shuting our doors on 8th September 2024.

You will find the Creative Gallery in St John’s Hill, near Wareham Quay and St Mary’s Church, just off South Street in the walled Saxon town of Wareham. A historic location, the Gallery is housed in one of the oldest parts of Wareham – St John’s Hill having formerly been an open area behind the church dedicated to St John, now the small car park.  The building which houses the Gallery was originally the cart store, next to the stables, for a hotel in South Street.

The Gallery was first opened in 2005 by the brothers Cliff and Graham Towler; painters specialising in wildlife and Jurassic landscape paintings.  Along with their paintings they also exhibited various ceramics  and the stoneware pottery of Fiona Kelly, the latter having taken over the Gallery in early 2013. Since the change in management Fiona has introduced some new artist makers; Frauke Fege, porcelain ceramics;  Helen Francis, textiles and mixed media; Rose Hatcher, semi-precious jewellery;  Wendy Nutt, silver jewellery;  Caroline Parrott, dyed aluminium jewellery and accessories and Linda Rowe, glass.  In addition a programme of monthly guest makers has been commenced to showcase other Dorset based artists, to add an ever changing look to the Gallery.

The Gallery is staffed by the artist/makers, who will often be creating their artworks while chatting with customers.  We are open 10-5, Monday-Saturday and Sundays 10-5 from the Whit bank holiday in May to the end of September.
